2021 Lifetime Achievement Award
The Robert L Hanson Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who has been involved in and served the industry for 20 years or more and has provided significant contribution and positive influence along with leadership. Curt Christensen of Lee Lyn Construction has been a part of the building industry his whole life. He grew up with a hammer in his hand working side-by-side with his father before starting his own homebuilding company more than 45 years ago. Curt has been an integral part of Housing First Minnesota, never shy about standing up for what he believes is right for our industry. For example, Curt spoke out strongly against the sprinkler mandate even as a former firefighter. He served on the Parade of Homes committee, helped launch the Artisan Home Tour, and served as association president. Curt is a huge advocate for membership in Housing First Minnesota and is committed to the cause of creating the opportunity for homeownership for everyone, everywhere. Equally as important to his contributions to the industry, Curt demonstrates leadership in his community. He has donated his time and materials to build sets for a youth theater program, participated in Housing First Minnesota Foundation mission trips to Haiti to build homes, he has been a volunteer firefighter for 21 years, served as President of the Western Area Firefighter Training Academy, been active in local politics, and held several additional community leadership positions. Curt loves the building industry and continues to enjoy working with his hands to create something that is well-built, lasting, and beautiful. |
